Kibale Forest National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular safari destinations, located in western Uganda near Fort Portal. Covering approximately 795 square kilometers of tropical rainforest, Kibale is internationally known for chimpanzee trekking and its incredible primate diversity.
The park is home to 13 primate species, including over 1,500 chimpanzees, making it one of the best places in Africa to experience close encounters with our closest relatives in the wild.
Kibale Forest is often referred to as the primate capital of the world due to its exceptional concentration of primates. It offers visitors a unique rainforest experience different from the savannah parks of Uganda.

Chimpanzee permits are required and should be booked in advance due to high demand.
In addition to chimpanzees, Kibale Forest is home to red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and olive baboons.
