About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a living rainforest nestled on the edge of the Albertine Rift in southwestern Uganda. The park covers approximately 331 km² of dense forest, steep hills, deep valleys, and rushing streams. The trek can take anywhere from two to six hours, depending on where the gorillas are located that day. Once the gorilla family is found, visitors are allowed one unforgettable hour to observe and photograph these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.

Best Time to Visit Bwindi

The best time to visit Bwindi for gorilla trekking is during the dry seasons (June–September and December–February), when trails are easier to navigate and the forest is less muddy. However, gorilla trekking is possible year-round, and the rainforest becomes especially lush and green during the rainy seasons.

Always carry comfortable trekking shoes, a rain jacket, insect repellent, and water. Porters are available at the trailhead to assist visitors with steep paths and carry equipment if needed.
