Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests. Located in southwestern Rwanda, the park is famous for chimpanzee trekking, canopy walk adventures, and rich primate diversity.
Covering over 1,000 square kilometers, Nyungwe is home to 13 primate species, hundreds of bird species, and breathtaking mountain rainforest landscapes.
Chimpanzee trekking is the highlight of Nyungwe Forest National Park. Visitors hike through dense rainforest early in the morning to track habituated chimpanzee families. The experience is energetic and exciting as chimpanzees move actively through the forest canopy.
Nyungwe offers one of the best chimpanzee trekking experiences in East Africa and is often combined with Rwanda gorilla safaris.
The Nyungwe canopy walkway is a 70-meter-high suspended bridge that stretches across the forest, offering spectacular aerial views of the rainforest and wildlife below.
